Orbitra L1 · Consensus layer
The layer where one truth is agreed.
QSE sits at the consensus layer of Orbitra L1. Everything above it — VectorLanes execution, ApexMatch fills, NexusWASM contracts — becomes final only when a QSE quorum signs the same transition.

Role in the Orbitra L1 stack
Execution produces candidate state; consensus decides which state is true. VectorLanes runs independent work in parallel, then hands QSE an ordered set of transitions to certify.
QSE is a HotStuff-family BFT protocol. A configured Byzantine quorum of validators signs the same state transition, producing a finality certificate. There is no probabilistic confirmation ladder and no reorganization after finality under the stated fault model.

What QSE contributes to the network
- 01
Economic security
Stake selects the security set and creates slashing exposure for provable misbehavior.
- 02
Clear duties
Authority assigns proposer and committee roles, so responsibility for each step is explicit.
- 03
Measured service
Verified work — availability, validation, service quality — shapes duties and rewards.
- 04
Deterministic finality
Applications and markets can treat a certified transition as settled, without waiting for depth.
